VT Graduate Student Assembly
National Capital Region Chapter

We are currently looking for motivated graduate students to lead the GSA NCR during the Spring 2008 semester. Please see notice below if interested.

GSA NCR Openings

Graduate Student Assembly, National Capital Region (GSA NCR) is looking for motivated graduate students to represent in its committee and delegate body. The committee will be made of Chair, Vice-Chair, and three supporting members. The delegate body will be made of two delegates.

Committee Chair Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as primary liaison between Blacksburg GSA (executive board) and NCR campus.
  2. Oversee operations of GSA NCR.
  3. Plan events associated with GSA at NCR campus.

Vice-chair Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as GSA NCR membership coordinator.
  2. Assist the chair with GSA-related programs at NCR campus.

Member Responsibilities:

  1. Assist both the chair and vice-chair at NCR campus with activities and programs associated with GSA.

Delegate Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in delegate meetings.
  2. Vote on GSA-related issues.

It is allowed to apply for multiple positions at the same time. However, only one position can be granted per person. Please submit a one-page letter of interest (in plain text, MS Word, or PDF format) by your vt.edu email to NCR_GSA_BOARD@listserv.vt.edu with the following items:

  1. "GSA NCR APPLICATION" in email subject.
  2. Your name, program, and department.
  3. Your contact method.
  4. Position(s) applying for in the descendant order of your preference. For example, if you want to apply for more than one position, please list position 1's name, position 2's name, etc, with position 1 as your most preferred, position 2 as your second most preferred, and so on.
  5. Other content of your choice.

The Graduate Students Assembly (GSA) in the National Capital Region exists to serve and represent graduate students. The GSA promotes the intellectual community of graduate education, sponsors opportunities for professional development, creates opportunities for social interaction among graduate students, and advocates for issues relevant to graduate students and graduate education.

Self Enrollment Procedures:

  1. Go to https://learn.vt.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp?tab_id=_2_1.
  2. Put "NCR Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) Chapter" in Course Search and click "Go!".
  3. Click on "Enroll" button on the very right end.
  4. Click on "Login" button (please ignore the "Access Denied" message) and login with you PID/Password.
  5. Click on "Submit" and on the next page click on "OK".
  6. You should be able to see the "Announcement" page. Click on "Discussion Board" on the left side.

To subscribe:

  1. Start your e-mail program.
  2. Address a new message to listserv@listserv.vt.edu.
  3. In the body of the message, type:
